The lords of the Riverlands have lived restlessly together, but no longer. Now each lord will have to decide whether to defend or expand while other warlords take matters into their own hands. Some will try to maintain stability in the Riverlands. Others will try to control the rich lands for themselves.
This is a modified, open-ended, multiplayer scenario based on TheRiverlands map by Joe Amstrong. Revisions by Talon-Thorn. Scenario modified to make an open-ended game like "After the Fall." Scenario was also balanced with additional "random" dungeons, extra mana nodes, and a few more alters to help keep the fusiest warlords happy.
Please note, if you got an early download of this map, the humans were "CPU only," but should be playable. An updated version has been submitted to fix this.

Ok, sorry for the confusion, but I made one final revision to make it more pbem-friendly. I added heroes to make for a better leaders-off game startup, and removed the walls around the 4-hex cities to increase the possible startup strategies. Map will say "v1.1" when you open it, so you'll know you have the most current version (not part of map name tho).

Well Done, Talon Thorn,
I played this map twice Pbem and had twice a lot of fun :)
This map is one of the best open-end maps I played since "After the Fall". So a full "5" for playability
I suggest it took you a lot of testing until you got the balance as it is. Every race has the same ressources in the beginning, it takes you a few rounds to get under attack. So: A full "5" for balance.
Creativity: Well, I dunno.. Wiping leaders and their peoples off the map and having not so much to explore is just a "3", while the Idea of the strategy of placing boats for bridges is quite a good one. Try it out.... And the names of some of the cities e.g. "Borussia" or some other names of famous German Football Teams is quite funny :))
Map design. Hmmm. I do not understand why there is no underground level. The map itself is not so rich in Detail but that does not matter. So a "3" for the map design.
Story/Instructions: The Story is simple but good. Explore the country, wipe every leader and his peoples off the map and finally win it. The map has an open end, so take your time. Nothing you can do wrong. Maybe a few signs at interesting places could have been placed. So a "4" for Story/Instructions.
All in all this map is one of the best open end maps, specially made for PBem. That´s what I think. If you do not play it, you miss something.
So, have lot of fun playing it !

I have throughly enjoyed this map. A wonderful map with all the races and great balance. It makes a wonderful map for PBEM play.
I have played it about 6 times and each time I have enjoyed the richness of the map and depth of the strategy.
Great for 1 vs 1 games - especially the epic Highmen vs Undead or Halfling vs Dark Elf.
It is also great fun for having multiple players in PBEM - really any number works out great!
Well done - a favorite PBEM map of mine!

This is one of my absolute favorite maps. I just thought I would let you know. The map has so many possibilities and it works superbly in PBEM. I can without any doubt say that at least five of my top 10 favourite played games have been on this map.
