Playable Races: Goblins (recomMended for single-play), Humans, Lizardmen, Elves, Halflings and Dwarves.
STORY BACKGROUND In 4401 LIR, after Julia's passing the Highmen made a new bid for the world. They covered the land with their troops, taking all territories and lands. Some of the more ingenious goblin and dark dwellers, buried themselves in the earth, rather than be destroyed by those forces who refused to consider them anything but a scourge. But you are tired of waiting in the shadows. It is time you dug yourself out.
And just in time, as the Azracs make a bid to hold their desert, the races might be preoccupied with each other. Unfortunately you've heard that the Highmen are extradimensional creatures who may have already noticed you. In short you begin to think hiding in the dirt isn't going to save you for long.
HINTS: Goblins are recommended race for single player. Do not dig to any open passages unless you know them to be safe. Do not dig to the surface until you are ready to face stiff opposition. Search the underground for things that will give you an edge of those goody-goodies of the surface world.
This was a very enjoyable map. I really liked having a small army of beetles to dig out the underground for my Goblin empire, being careful not to dig too deep and watching out for the High Men driller crews teleporting in in certain spots. All the while wathing the war raging on the surface while you prepare to get uprooted.
Quite a dynamic and strategic and, especially if you play with Leaders Off (I regret not doing so myself).
There's some nifty artifacts to find, and lots of mana, so developing Spell Casting V will be a good investment.
