Author File Description
ffbj
File Details
Ruleset: TS Standard Rules

This is a semi-historical representation of the Three Kingdoms period in China. Circa 200 A.D.
The Wei, (frostlings) Shu, (orcs) and the Wu, (highmen) are the three playable races. I have also
included the Barbarians, (azracs) for the single player who wants to play a powerful faction, or for multiplayer
possibilities.

Very original storyline. We've seen scenarios based on Lord of Rings, Midkemia, Dungeons and Dragons, DragonLance, Warhammer, but here is something no one has looked into - a map based on a Chinese War Epic.

A gorgeous world where fierce creatures and dangerous forces actively roam. The land is full of resources but still, doesn't make things easier. All forces seemed well spread out, so the action starts immediately.

A must-play.
Good job, FFBJ.

I have thoroughly enjoyed playing this map. The map looks beautiful, and has a captivating background story. Due to the large number of friendly cities for all playable races and the large number of resources, expansion is quick and large armmies of powerful creatures can be built very rapidly. Because the map is so large and factions expand like wildfire, conflicts between factions can span very broad fronts. The only drawback is that in a 4-player, multiplayer game (Azracs vs Frostlings-Highmen-Orcs), the Azracs seem to be just a bit too powerful.

Very Original Storyline and Map! Beautiful scenery with many things relating to Chinese lore. The Azracs are a little powerful compared to the other playable races (Frostlings, Orcs and Highmen).

playing this map reminds me of playing as undead in the city, where i have a powerful hero who does almost all the job. liu pei is the one who did most of the job in expansion when i play highmen. this map actually caught my eye because it's based on a well-known period of chinese history, a background i am very familiar with. unfortunately, because many adjustments have been made to enhance playability, i don't feel like living in that period when i play the map. it's like playing a story of king arthur, where england is in the north, scotland in the south (reversed location of shu and wu), birmingham already existing as a big city (taipei and many other modern cities that were not there yet), and king arthur as a wizard serving merlin as a scottish king (liu pei, the ruler of shu in history, as an important general serving wu). so, i am not exaggerating. however, when i focus on the map alone, without ever considering historical and geographical accuracy, then i discover that this map is a pretty good one. among the maps you made, i enjoy the coming of the dread hobbit the most, then the city, which is only a little better than this one because of the city's ingenious creativity. i haven't played it in an mp game, but simply as an sp game against ai. perhaps my experience would be even better in an mp game. historical accuracy gets -1 in story/instructions. that's why you have 3 here. i hope that if there's a next version, accuracy will be improved to a degree close to that of middle earth by newsboy, which is anther great map. accuracy is hard without sacrificing playability. for instance, in middle earth, if you have all the characters (legolas, gandalf, and etc) as heroes with frodo, the map will be too easy. however, players certainly don't want to see frodo being an elf, for example. but, i must admit that your map is much more detail-oriented and pleasing to the eye than middle earth.
