After 10 years this is the most downloaded map for the original AoW game on this site !!
Me thinks this warrants an update :)
Basic map info:
-All races playable
-Xl-map with 3 lvls
-highly detailed
-lots of custom made hero's and item's
-map is made for replay value
In this Update i included 3 map versions:
-the original map
-the new updated v1.3 map WL (With Leaders)
-the new updated v1.3 map NL (No Leaders) for Lan and PBEM games
What did he update you ask?
I took the PBEM version from this map and tweaked from there on , this means:
-I used Dix's underground terrain inversion technique. Which translates into using top layer graphics in underground levels (which is a bug), this made the extensive underground lvls a lott more appealing !!
-Used Tekk Zero's mapmakers addition to enhance it; Walking hero's and abilities normally not available for hero's , like healing. I added a bunch of new walking hero's to the ones already there in the PBEM version.
-Item's and hero's are tuned further, so no more physical immunity on items.
-added a few more teleporters for more AI interaction.
-Underground altars.
-slightly adjusted some area's.
Thank you for all the favorable reviews over the years.
I hope you will enjoy this new version :)
There is a follow up now !
It can be downloaded here:

This map is great. The details are excellent, one of the most detailed maps I've ever played! The map layout on the surface is very nice. However, the two underground levels are a bit too big for my taste, and there are some telporters on the surface that confuse things (but they help the AI some).
There's a huge background story, but in game there's not that much. But there are some signs to read. and that's always fun.
All heroes and items are custom made, and there are hundreds of them... Impressive!
I played the map as frostlings, and had some nice battles with Highmen and Azracs.
Play this map, it's a great piece of work! |

Simply outstanding! Best map I've ever played, better than any of designer maps. I haven't finished it yet, but with six killing machnes it won't be hard. You just want to play a turn more, and one more... I hope that you will re-design it for AoW2. Oh, some text bubbles are empty, and there should be more of them. |

This is a fun map with a lot of secrets to find by exploring. The map is well laid out and attractive to look at. There is little story inside the map, but that is not a drawback. The map is more challenging at the beginning due to strong neutral stacks lurking around the corners waiting for your early scouts, by the end you are rolling along and near unstoppable. There are lots of new magic items but they are a bit too powerful IMHO.
The underground levels are a bit too extensive for my taste, but not so much that I gave up playing the map.

There's not much of a story, but this is a pretty map, and has lots of neat hidden areas and such. I love all the custom heroes and items. Great fun to play. |

This is an enourmous map with some of the richest, most beautiful detail I have ever seen. It's obvious that many hours of work went into this map, and people are missing out if they don't try it at least once. |

A superb map! Gives a truly epic feeling when playing it. It's maps like this that still keep me at AoW.
The map is beautifully designed and very detailed. The story was a bit lacking but that was the only drawback. All the races start out pretty equally, and the strong indies in early-game only add to the fun. Hope to see a sequel soon ;)
One tiny glitch: when attacking Sylvares' fortress the indie townguards massacred each other instead of coming at me. I suppose it's due to the alignment differences. Might want to look into this? |

Excellent map. Great detail. A true wonder to play. I played as the Dark Elfs but can see great replay value here. I can't say enough about the detail. Wonderful!! |

A fantastic map for those who like to explore with superheros. I shudder to think of the time i will have to put into this to play with leaders off the map.[Edited on 10/19/06 @ 06:14 AM]

The simply best map I ever played.
I'd wish there'd be more of these great x-large, all-races-available maps that you can play for hours. |
