Xelm Plateau II - Arcane Gardens

This is a medium-size map with three levels and 5 players: Elves, Dark Elves, Highmen, Undead, and Azracs.

It's medium size, but it should play like larger one due to its winding tunnels, teleporters, water travel, and many well-guarded structures crammed in. AI won't do well. In theory players should have a choice between attacking each other early, or fleeing to the wealthier lands of the surface, (everyone starts in the Depths), or slowly repairing the initially razed structures of the starting area. In practice the map may need tweaking.
Your leader is already level 30 - he'll be a weak fighter, strong mage forever, as will enemies'. Enjoy!
Updated: 13/05/2019. Builders guilds are present and more income is present.
Updated 11/06/2019. Fewer starting area structures are in ruins. Starting areas are greatly prettified and are a bit more open-looking. Other levels also prettified, and the overland area now has about a dozen additional income structures.
Updated 18/06/2019. Several surface towns gain walls, and the 2hex surface towns now start upgraded. Also, there are now 10 custom items for this scenario. Also toned down the ballistae in surface towns.
Updated 22/06/2019 - just gave the unrazed starting area nodes custom guardians.
04/07/2019 - made the start a little harder again (one less rebuilder, 25 less gold). Gave a mine a guard since I forgot to before. Added an imprisoned highlevel hero in the center of the surface map.
27/08/2019 - The start is harder once more for all players, and starting area and the centre of the lower caves are more heavily guarded. Many more prisons have been added to the map, including 5 that hold Basilisks. The prisons in the starting areas now each contain a special infantry hero with Spellcasting V and no Strike. Additionally, there are now five bridges to the centre from the starting positions, which will require earth-digging to use. Lastly, each player now starts with an inaccessible Lightning Altar.
13/09/2019 - Starting areas now have two upgraded level 2 towns (including the razed one), and there's more gold piles in the starting area. All starting area guards have been reworked, and there's a few groups of troops that can be recruited now.
29/09/2019 - fix to give the Highmen a missing imprisoned hero
12/11/2019 - the human imprisoned hero in the centre of the surface now comes with 7 charlatans, so that the Undead can employ him too. Also, he is now incredibly durable.
13/12/2019 - a wide range of criticism-prompted alterations. The aforementioned hero is weakened. 10 farms are added to the top level, which is after all a garden. The centre of the starting level has had been reworked, with all the mines removed. Five dungeons were removed from the coast of that central island. Some surface cities are higher tier. The ruined caved-in cities in the starting areas are now higher level and size 4. Bridges and diggable earth now circle the entire bottom level's outside.
09/01/2019 the map now uses my fully custom-made item set. These items are mostly stronger than the vanilla item set, but out of about 230 items, only 5 are crazily powerful.
29th June 2020 - Weakened guards in the starting areas and added some random items on the map.
5th April 2021 - further weakened starting area guards, everyone starts with two altars, and increased initial gold income.

Very nice map. Me and my father played LAN on this and had a great time. Awesome to see people making maps for this game still. I will play your other ones as well.
