No, I'm not new here, but you might be? If you want to post an introduction of yourself to let us know who you are, this is the thread to do it in! Don't be shy!

You'll find short introductions of all the staff on the Staff Bios page, if you're curious about who we are.

*waves* Hi everyone! I'm new. I've only played AOW a few times, and mostly came here for the RP forums. But I'm that one elf's older sister, so I figured I'd introduce myself. :-)

"'I quite agree with you,' said the Duchess; `and the moral of that is--"Be what you would seem to be"--or if you'd like it put more simply--"Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise."'"' --the Duchess from Alice in Wonderland

My name is Kevin, I'm a 17 year old senior in high school, and I'm from St. Louis, Missouri, United States. I enjoy talking to my girlfriend, playing video games, posting on forums. The first game (aside from some SNES and NES games) I ever played was Total Annihilation, back in either the late 1990s or early 2000s. I'm generally nice to people if they're nice to me as well, and I believe I'd make a great addition to your community. I enjoy science fiction and am going to attend a university to become a marine biologist, which is also what my girlfriend wants to be. Oh, and sorry ladies, but like I said, I have a girlfriend, and I love her more than anything in existence.

My favorite video games are StarCraft, Diablo I & II, Warcraft II & III, Descent I & II, Descent FreeSpace, Total Annihilation, SWAT 3, Rogue Spear, Geist, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, the GameCube remake of Resident Evil, the Command & Conquer games back when they were still made by Westwood, and too many others to list. My favorite game console is GameCube, but I also own a Dreamcast, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS Lite, SNES, NES, and Sega Game Gear. I collect video game consoles and am currently looking to get a Sega Saturn, Atari Jaguar, 3DO Interactive Multiplayer, and an Amiga CD32.

My favorite movies are all three of the Twilight movies, the original trilogy of Star Wars (and the prequel trilogy), Zombieland, and the 2006 Casino Royale. My favorite book is The Terrible Hours by Peter Maas. My favorite TV shows are Stargate Universe, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Babylon 5, Farscape, Firefly, the new Battlestar Galactica, Caprica, Andromeda, Code Lyoko, Dexter, and countless others. My favorite food would have to be Jack Link's Lil' Chubs. My favorite bands are Paramore, Panic! at the Disco, Girls Aloud, Bullet for my Valentine, Three Days Grace, Basshunter, and A Touch of Class. My favorite musical genre is emo.

I am on my way to becoming a certified SCUBA diver and I also participate in World War II reenactments. I am also a webmaster, and run my own community, here is the URL, if you're interested in joining:

A little late, but welcome Lightning. No Age of Wonders1 / 2 under "favorite games"? Shame! At least you like Farscape. See you on the forums!

HI everybody, i just downloaded AoW2: SM from impulse and thought that its about time i created an account on the forum

Hmm, what should i say . . . ^_^

Well, i first got wind of AoW when i bought AoW2: WT from game waaaay back when, still got it aswell. After a while i started to look for mods for it beacuse i played it to death, thats when i found out about SM. Never got around to aquiring it though unfortunatly, but every now and then id come and check out the mods for it and see how things were progressing (and checking ebay for a cheap copy aswell lmao xD)

Hmm, about me, im a 20 year old dude living in N.Ireland, i mainly enjoy RTS games, with a few TBS throwin in the mix it up like Master of Orion and this epic game 2
But, even though those are my fav. genres, i spend most of my time playing a MMO xD

My interests lie in playing online, because i never got to play AoW online before (once with WT on my old comp, but it was very laggy :/) Id like to get playing some SP and MP custom campaigns if their are any, and i look forward to fighting with / against u guys in da futcha (the future thats meant to read like xD)

Oh oh oh oh, my fav race is .... umm ... hmm ... eeemmm...
either.... Tigrans, Dwarfs or Archons =D

Greetings, all...

I keep visiting this thread, and never seem to end up posting anything... However, since I have already made a post in another section, I thought I might as well keep going...

My name is Mark, twenty-five, from the UK... Originally from Glasgow, but currently in Plymouth - based there with the Royal Navy... Got a handful of interests, including writing short fantasy stories, practising Tae Kwon Do, and then the general music, movies and books...

Gaming-wise, I think of myself as an interested (and semi-competent) young'un... I do enjoy many different games - ranging from World of Warcraft to Kurushi... Unfortunately, I don't always have the time to devote to getting too immersed, so I often find myself having extended breaks from it all...

Anyway, since this is only supposed to be an introduction - and not an autobiography - I shall leave it there...and look forward to getting involved in the many duscussions going on here...

Hi Nojd

I have just dusted off the dust and repaired the scratches of my AOW games and decided it was time to relive some old memories.

I think I remember you from the days of the AOW Starlance league with Der Waags Mikail 420 and a few others.

I used to make some nasty type maps for that league--was sorry to see it go down--just after we tried to make our own league but things seemed to die down or real life pulled folks away.

If any folks are around from that time say hi and lets see if us oldies can get something back up again ;-)

Cya around

I don't know too many people around here who'd consider me an Oldie, I've only been in HG for a little under a year or so... but I'll say hi. And welcome back.

It's good to see more people about. I'm not looking forward to the days when these games are no longer played because computers just won't play them. They'll all eventually go the way of the old games, and they'll only be fond memories.

Hi... as you see, I'm s2173, and this is my internet name I guess... or Skymole if you don't like numbers.

Strategy games always interested me, but never could find anything that actually played well (besides chess). RTS games especially are very boring, only goal being to gather resources as fast as you can and get as big army as possible, without any actual tactics. I couldn't find any good TBS neither, CIV3 and certain playstation1 tactical RPG's being the closest to what I want. Then, about 2 months ago, someone finally convinced me to try HOMM3 (which I considered at a time, but looked incredibly boring at utube videos). However, as I tried it, I was hooked. It did get abit repetetive after a while in the champagin, and not everything made sense, and after some research for similiar games I got to AoW... And I got all 3 games, which will probably give e atleast a year of fun. Its too diverse to be repetetive, and has all the tactics I could want...

Now I'm mostly playing through wizards throne champagin to figure out how things go, and I'm having a blast. After HOMM i got used to the rush technique, so it wasnt too hard. But it took me atleast 3 maps to realize i don't need to drag my wizard everywhere to cast magic, and that he can stay in the city... Some more story-oriented parts were fun. And at fire3, I razed a tigran city for a spirit quest, which was a bad idea, because almost all my cities were tigrans, and they rebelled, but after 3 or four turns they forgot about the razed city and everything was fine

I installed 1.4 patch for SM, and some scenarios, but I havent got into it yet. AoW1 firstly looked very bad, not because of graphics, but because I couldn't see anything, the sprites are so small. But after some getting used to it probably will be great too, it has these huge battlefields that are like mazes and dungeons...

Not sure if PBEM or multiplayer are for me, as i see they use the automatic combat... that wouldn't be good. I have abit wierd way of playing, triyng to win with almost no forces and at impossible odds, with some reloading and using every trick against the AI... but no cheating, because that's lame. Example of that is the wizard's trone champagin map where you start with an air galley. I beat that map in 25 turns... taking out Artica's castle with only my hasted air galley, because she didnt have any archers in there... After that I beat the other wizard with the same air galley, and Artica's ice dragon I hired after her death...and a hero, which died, but he wasn't any good anyway. (Then I didn't know about the flee option.)

So, that's getting abit too long... I have been lurking around the forums for a while now, reading stuff... just 5 minutes ago I discovered the "reply to topic" button and decided to use it... sorry for the typos and the lack of smileys, I really cant find them, lol...

Greetings, I've just signed up last night and am hoping to find people to help me test my maps, and to maybe finally play this game with someone else.

I own both AoW and AoW2, but I prefer the first one overall.
I've only really done bot scenarios, I've only done like 2 levels on the official campaign. What I really love is the map editor, I've started countless maps before and I've never actually completed any until recently.

I always enjoy putting story and depth to any maps I build, because I don't like making two sides fight just for the sake of fighting, I prefer to know why each side is fighting.

Now, I don't know if I'm really all that good at the game, I can crush low to mid-level bots fairly easily, but I've never played against high level bots or actual players, so I'm not going to claim to be epic at the game.

Anyhow, I'll be on here, working on new maps and stuff here and there (though likely not much in the near future because I'm preparing to leave the nest and to be able to support myself in real life) So I hope to see people on here that might want to help out =)

Hello, I am Tetra and new to these forums. How are you doing?

Hi guys, technically I'm not new as many years ago (possibly a decade even) I used the account Blake00 here however I clearly must has used some weird password on it that I never use anywhere else as for the last 2 years I've been trying to get back into it but have been unable to and the password recovery email never seems to come to my inbox!

Finally gave up and made a new account lol! I don't think I ever posted much with the old one anyway so it's not the end of the world lol.

Oh well now I'm back and thought I'd say hello!

I bought AoW1 in 1999 after seeing a review for it in PC Gamer UK and noticing that it looked heaps like HoMM (which I grew up playing). Loved the game, loved AoW2 even more! AoWSM & AoW are still on my to do list but I recently went back and had a go at AoW1 'After the fall' in a 16 races slaughterfest playing as the humans and had such a blast reliving the game. I have a big work in progress AoW tribute page on my retro gaming website that I plan to do more work on once I've played the newer AoW games.

Blake's Sanctum:
- Total Conversion mods: QFG Hexen, Star Trek Doom, & Star Wars Civilization 2
- Game Shrines: Age of Wonders, Babylon 5 Games, C&C, Elder Scrolls, Dune Games, Final Fantasy, Freelancer, Heroes of Might & Magic, Master of Magic, Quest for Glory Series, Starflight, & Star Trek Games
