Hi all,
I play AoW-SM from many years, and a couple of months ago I bought a new notebook.
It is an Asus G1S, here the main charateristics of my system:
- CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T7500
- RAM 2 GB
- Graphic card nvidia 8600M GT
- HDD 160 GB SATA
I use the notebook not at the native resolution (1680x1050) but at the resolution of 1280x800.
The problem starts only few minutes after launching AoW-SM; I begin to see many stripes of hexagons that starting from the high-left corner of the screen goes till the center.
My first question: where can I place some screenshots to make you see the graphical defect?
Note: my notebook came in the original pack with Windows Vista (bleah!) that I uninstalled and then replaced with Windows XP.
On the Asus website there are no graphic drivers for this notebook for Windows XP, so I used the modded driver provided bywww.laptopvideo2go.com
Here all that I tryied, but the defect persists:
- Format and reinstall Windows XP many times;
- Change 5 or 6 different versions of graphic drivers;
- Changing resolution to 1280x800, 1440x900, native resolution of 1680x1050;
- Connect an external 19" LCD monitor to the VGA port.
The problem is always there.
The only way to stop the mad hexagones I found is that if during the game i press the Windows key to see the desktop and then return to the AoW-SM window, the graphical defect disappear, and is it so for all the duration of the game (since I close and restart AoW-SM).
The problem is not of my notebook, cause all the other 3D games works perfectly and without graphical defect, I tested all the other games for hours and so I run many times 3DMark for some hours...
I changed the graphic drivers many times, so... it is possible that is a problem of AoW-SM with my 8600M GT graphic card?!
Someone of you have ever tryied to play AoW-SM on a notebook equipped with this graphic card or with a recent 8000 series nvidia (also on desktop PCs)?
Thank you for the support, I will soon add the links to the screenshots If I will found the way to do that!
Bye...!
