The Problem is the same as discripted in the main post of this thread:

21) If you receive an "incompatible resources" error message this means that you don't have the same version loaded in AoWSMSetup as the person who is hosting

But a friend and me have the same version.
We have the same 1.3 or u1.4 patch installed and choosen in setup.
Controlled it in Game setup screen while running the game before connection to each other.
We have new installed AoWSM & Windows. No changes.
We can "see" each other in game with nice ping (about 60).
All is fine. Never mind who host and who wants to join. No problem.
All AoWSM and other windows drivers that are needed are "free" to pass the firewalls.
Both have Direct 9c installed.
We have tryed with and without a router on one side an only with two DSL modems each.
We can allways "see" each other.
But when we click on "join game" the message "incompatible resources" pops up very short and set the one who tryed to join the other back to the start screen.

We have only MSM running to "write" while setting up the game.
No gamespy or something else.

In our pain we have installed AoW I and tryed to play. The online setup is near the same. It works fine.

We have tryed many hours changeing near all possible things. EXEīs, upatch. 1.3, 1.4 Blood on/off and so on.

Tryed with original maps or very simple self made maps.

I have played with two other friends from this community in the past and it was no problem.

Only with this one friend it did not work and we allways get this message.
He has tryed with another friend that is also able to play online but it alos donīt work. IR message too.
We both have original AoWSM CDīs of course even buyed in the same store but in two different countrys.
We have tred to set up with different languages in setup.
We have tryed to with and without "Selfmade Resources" (Donīt know how it is called in english) ON/OFF in setup.

We are now realy out of mind.

Can someone help us?

I downloaded aow 3 from internet and installed it in two different computers, but when I try to play using hamachi the messaage incompatible version appears. What do I have to do?

Todays are retro days on gamespy. MP mods even upatch are in the last fashion again. We got some new players too. Dwiggs is dissapeared from gamespy cause of its really incredible slowness. And because of dwiggers went out from here too. So, all you need to play today is upatch+mp 1.6 fix rock (1MB)+ cd for version 1.3. Coma mod and bnw 3.0 betta are played too and better to get it in advance. Play today.

When you load the game the first screen should have some numbers in the bottom right corner. As long as you have Version 1.3 or higher showing there then the incompatible resources means (99.9% of the time) that the two players have different versions/mods selected in aowsmsetup.

If you have Version 1.0 you need to patch it with Upatch 1.4 (run it twice if you need to install patch 1.3 AND upatch 1.4).

If you have a pirate copy of the game I hope you rot in hell.

Lev although you have decided that Dwiggs is far too slow for you, there are still people who play it at Gamespy.

I would love to, and have downloaded Gamespy arcade but...I can't access the main lobby, though I do see there are 5 players in there right now.

It doesn't seem to want to co-operate, which is alright because it's an ugly program anyway. If you would like to play Me you would have to use the Hamachi program, unless you know what the problem I'm encountering is.

You might only need to adjust your browser to access the gamespy lobby. (I had the same problem the first time I tried it). When I first had my accessibility problems, I had to activate the active-x controls for my Internet Explorer browser...and then it worked correctly.

You could download a program smart close you can select what programs you want to keep on and close others... don't know the link got from another forum for another game think you find it with google search pretty good program

I donīt understand why you use gamespy to meet or play AoWSM but can you post a link to this strange rooms?
I have once installed this silly buggy tool. Maybe itīs still on my HD I can visit you there.

Well thats the other problems due to the many many online mods, confusing newcomers, there is that odd gamespys arcade room tool.

You need to install it to get access to the rooms....from there its eady to join game.

But we play via IP and host games ourselves...its just to exchange ips, this can be done in any chatroom actually....no idea we still try to meet there.

Better anyone gets msn/icq to play games.

When I play online I meet my freinds in MSN and play using hamatchi. So we donīt need to exchange this silly IP numbers and we are sure it works.

The reason why we (did) use Gamespy was very simple. At any time of the day or night you might have enough people online to start a game, random people that just turn up out of the blue. We can give new players advice about how to install Upatch, how to install mods, and then hopefully they play a game or two with us. Some of them end up being our friends!

New Players hardly appear just in messengers, too.

Also we have had a few problems with Hamachi recently - especially when people have different versions of hamachi.

... Game Spy came with the game... know that right? THAT is the sole reason WHY people should use it and have used it. As DarkMystery said, you are not really gonna meet total strangers if you use MSN and such programs... I actually think Game Spy AoW SM room is the best tool for online playing If there is people wanting to revive the online community its definitely the tool to be revived as well

id really like to play some games but no one is ever online on gamespy how can i get in touch with some other players
