There are generally two ways in which you can play with people you meet here on the forums. You can have an ONLINE game, or a PBEM (Play by Email) game. In general, this is one of the most helpful and kind communities you will find for multiplayer, so do not hesitate to ask if you are uncertain of something!

A complete guide to play pbem can be found

You need to realise that with a pbem you are starting an adventure/roleplaying game that can last even up to a year (on large maps). It's quite the commitment so you might want to start your first game on a small map to see if you like it.
You can play a pbem 'turn' whenever you like, although people that can spend at least 15 minutes for one turn a day (in general) are extra valued!
If you have a large imagination you will enjoy the stories and characters that develop more and more. At some point, you might even realise that Pbem can be more about making a good story together then about 'who is the better player'. It's like writing a book where no one knows the ending!
