I am unlikely to base my choice on their written description, what matters to me is how useful (or otherwise) a hero is when I'm playing, and particularly when I'm playing online.
Well, duhhh! They have the abilities they start with based on their bios... That's how Stranger and I did it.

Hi folks,

Need to do some advertising / hiring.

Is there anybody out there willing to join into the Dwiggs 5.0 Descent to Undermountain MMBEM (Mapmaking by email) project?

the mapmaking is going very slow recently and Kaskoid has left us.

I´m looking for somebody who brings:
a) At least some mapmaking experience (not necessarily event-writing, I gave up hope that there will be events outside my areas )
b) motivation
c) (most important!): TIME !!! I want to release the map end of this/beg of next year.

So I´m looking for somebody for one of the two possbile "jobs"

1. finishing (with or without altering) Kaskoids work (which is very much advanced already)
2. taking a completely new/untouched sector (means: an area of the map which has roughly the size of less than a fourth of a small map BUT ALL THREE LEVELS, no way of leaving one level out !!)

For the two a.m. 2 jobs, it´s not necessary to deal with a Wizzard and/or any other specific requirements of this map. Those areas are already distributed and unless some more people drop off, there´s no need to deal with more than normal freestyle mapmaking (I will give more special information on that "freestyle" then if somebody volunteers)

Are any screenshot anywhere at all?

Not that I know of. I thought Timelord was working on a readme file but he, like me, seems to have faded into the shadows

There are, at any rate, two new races:

Fey Folk replace the Syrons: forest, magic race.

Demons replace the Shadow Demons, fire, hellish race.

There won't be any showcases but in a few days (or sooner), you can have an XML of all units, heroes, wizards in Dwiggs along with their stats and abilities.
I can put that into a HTML readme but it will take more time (though I do have it on my work-list). I started out to make a readme but it got diverted into a much bigger (and hopefully, more useful) project.

Hello,

I have installed DWIGG 5 with the Upatch 1.4 and i have a bug with DWIGG with the elf:

The horseback rider has no display in the map screen, when i enter into a fight it is there except that when it uses his bow he blinks ...

If someone knows how to repair this pb tks ^^

Hi LtKain.

I think this is caused because some of the images for the horse archer in the ILB file (the images where he shoots
with his bow ) are missing. They are probably missing for all version of dwiggs, and the problem can only be fixed if his ILB file is re-compiled after the missing images are inserted. That is not very likely to happen; as far as I know, nobody is presently working on the Dwiggs mod, so my guess is you'll have to live with the (small!) nuisance.

Undead here and demons are really well done from a rpg point of view. I like the atmosphere also very powerful and strong weak spots makes them truly awesome.

And the goblins are the weak race...as supposed to be.

strange thing.. if i select dwiggs 5.0 in setup i can see the custom heros but cant see some of the things i can in this. in this i cant, but elven cavalry(forget their name) appear

it would be nice if there was a step by step guide to get this to work right, ive just been stumbling around.."


i really wouldnt mind if it was just the elven cavalrys range attack where he blinks for a half a second, but this is completely ugly for me

edit: another weird thing, i tried reinstalling(actually just copying my backup folder from before Upatch1.4) then patching to U1.4 , then installing Dwiggs 5, selecting it in setup, and the new races names are still what they replaced (fey are listed as syron, lizards as draconians, etc)

another: some of the custom wizards dont appear either, one that comes to mind is that topless centuar lady, she didnt appear in either version

You need to be sure which version you want to play. The 1.4 version of dwiggs was released before the 5.0 version of dwiggs, so you would need to install 5.0 last. Not sure whether installing dwiggs 5.0 needs you to install dwiggs 1.4 also, or not.

id like to play the latest version available of course.

now please, what am i to do to get it working as intended?
or perhaps it is working as close to intended as possible but is incomplete?
lots of strange things when i try this. for instance now i play and magic fist has the icon and name of magic fist, but is actually a thunder bolt. hellhound summons a salamander. and still at least one wizard is invisible. (not the ability) ive not tested them all

this time from scratch i installed
1.4U
dwiggs 1.4
dwiggs 1.4 fix
dwiggs 5
i have not run the ugpm program and it seems to be working better than i ever had it.

there should be like a faq or something so i dont waste time trying to fix something that i can do nothing about

You are incorrect to add the words "of course", as I have no way of knowing whether (for example) you want to play a map from our downloads section that was designed for Dwiggs 1.4

well im really liking the mod if i can look past its kinks. and the ai seems a lot tougher, what are the sort of things you all did with it?

ed it: and any chance somone would tell me how to do a little modding of my own? i feel like the unit fairy queen should become available to they feyfolk once they build the fairy kingdom structure. without the "summoned" stat id hope. maybe duplicate the unit and remove that ability but i have no idea how

You just need to install the UPatch 1.4 and the Dwiggs 5.0. You don't need any other Dwiggs versions if you just want to play the latest version of the mod.

As for assigning the Fairy Queen, open the editor with Dwiggs 5.0 selected, open the races tab, go to the Fey Folk race and add the unit to the Special Structure's list of units.

and i bet i could fix the invisible wizard(s) if i decided on a sprite for them too. thanks

by the way, if i install straight from the upatch to dwiggs5 fey folk and demons appear as syrons and shadow demons. (in name only)

edify: where do i find marksmanship 5 and up? it goes to 4 and then disappears for me

edifice: well i found out how to copy and paste so it doesnt matter now, but im still curious.

whats some more words that starts with ed.. im tired of edit

I realize that most likely no one will even read this, but I just wanted to say that I am really enjoying the mod. I've been playing AoW:SM for years now and I just discovered Dwiggs, having a great time so far.

Anyway, the reason I am posting is that earlier today I was playing as the Archons and I got an Avenger to the elite rank, which grants them Holy Champion. However the mouse-over text says that its a bonus to Atk/Dam against good, not evil. I don't know if this is a bug or just a typo, but does anyone know how I can get into the meat of the mod and fix this one?

I am playing Gathering of Magic scenario (Dwigg 5.0), and for some of the races I do not get a starting hero and no heroes appear thereafter. This was the case when I played the Halflings and the Fey Folk, though when I played the demons I did get one. I made sure I had plenty of money, so we can rule that out. The Fey Folk did not have a hero as late as 28 turns into the game.

I had this problem playing another scenario as well.

I did not have this problem with the previous Dwigg (1.4 maybe?) Any ideas what happened and how to fix this?

And what is recommended way to run - use standard exe file or dwigmod5.0.exe ?

Where can i also find at least brief description about differences between versions 5.0 and 1.4 ?

So, i have this little fun issue, i installed the mod, de installed it, but now i have the same changed spells names , as bloodlust , woodcrafter, etc, in the default settings, how can i change them back?

Start switch_Dwiggs_resstr.bat in the AOWSM directory ...i think that one will solve your problem.
