Dwiggs5.0 is available here:

http://aow2.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=612

Update 17-12-19 Joep and I are making an Age of Wonders 3 Dwiggs mod. If anyone is interested, just email me at bradjosse@gmail.com

Cheers!

In regards to Dwiggs mod, special thanks to:

El Joep-who did too much to list.

Timelord-again, too much to list.

Igoraki-converted many of the new graphics.

Merkraad-taught me the whole morphing thing

Kirky Picardo-maker of the excellent Brave New World mod. Like Timelord and Joep, he helped me too much to list just any one thing.

Kaskoid-Many of the excellent descriptions come from his desk.

Stillborn, Jean Luc, and many others also contributed some very creative descriptions. Look for the letter at the end of the description to see who wrote it.

If you wish to contact me, you can do so at bradjosse@gmail.com

Speaking of Eagle Riders, you wrote a description for an Eagle Rider hero a while ago, but I can't find it. It began with something similar to "Every race has its deviants...." I quite liked it, but can't find it now

Air, I meant to retain the Gypsy Dancer, I think. Note that Drain will would work well with Slavers if you wanted to trap units

By the by, I'm sending out a "theta" version to all those who requested the beta. If you want the theta and don't get it, please send me an email at bradjosse@gmail.com It's a bit late here and in my sleepiness I may forget someone. This version will address most of the bugs, include all hero descriptions that I have, and add the latest images for the Demons and Fey Folk. Also, if a hero doesn't have a description in this version, he/she will need one, so post it here or email it to me if you want to try writing one

cheers,

bj

Stranger, I agree with Air about the multiple lvl4 units. Even though we don't see them much in online games, the AI does build them and builds them in numbers late in the game.

Just from a SP point of view, I suggest including the other lvl4 units too....and I certainly hope the Gypsy dancer will be back. Such a great ILB!

stranger what an evil person u won siege with precasting sacred wrath u know i m angry

ha, precasting is so cheap (legit or not, it's a little cheesy)

Stop smiling if you're angry...I still had 70 cps and would have probably won the siege anyway (I had 10 units left) But I agree with you and Mitch, to be honest. Now, if we could figure out why I kept getting the parasites in that battle...

when you kill an infected unit it gives you the parasite, not the person who owns the unit... Which I assume wasn't the intent with the warlock unit?

only 60 cp :P and i think better just remove that pestilence unit from summons , there are too much death spells already and if this thing even giving parasites to wrong side its sure shouldnt exist Also seems u made it lev3 to fix 7 lev2 spells, but death already has bone dragon on this level and i cant say i was happy to get this thing instead of bonedragon that seems was unavailable for research that time. and about parasites maybe attacker always get them? at least when attacker had pestilense units parasites always appeared on his side

and no poison immunity on dark angel seems little odd
posted 03-12-06 05:05 PM EDT (US)     850 / 2994
Ive been thinking of moving poison protection to silver and immunity to gold on dark angels myself. But with their drain life, they don't really need it.

With the possessed unit it has the "controlled" ability, which stats its under control of another unit. Is this "ability" nothing but flavor text? Or does it actually do something? Does another unit pop out when they are defeated? Or if you defeat their controller unit, do they die or switch sides or something?

they need poison immunity what has life steal to do with it? thats something completely different.

Why do they "need poison immunity"/how do you figure that? Holy Angels don't have poison immunity, nor do they have a different immunity in replace of poison immunity (holy doesnt count, since FA have death) Whats life drain have to do with it? It makes fallen angels already more powerful then holy angels, having an extra immunity on them as well isn't even.

We don't want too many units with poison immunity either.

we? are you a royalist? i think "we" air warlord and me want them to have poison immunity

well the reasion is most obvious...its a death summon and most death summons have poison immunity/protection btw black angel is lvl4 death summon so why should it lack it? angels have other good stuff holy strike improved healing, the healing part is especially good on the global map(non combat) and when you have more than just 1 angel. in combat they are better than the average priest cause of superior movement, they can reach anything with ease and heal it.

While I agree too many units have poison immunity, it's not high level units that are to blame, if anything there's more low level units with poison immunity than anything else (snakes, goblins, ect.)

Heal is one use, drain life works endlessly in battle to make a unit very powerful. So you would use the powerful level 4 unit angel as a fast priest, rushing around healing armies, and not to attack? By the time you get them, you have priests, sanctuaries in caps, know where healing structures are etc.

Quote:

its a death summon and most death summons have poison immunity

Thats not a reason.

Its more important for lots of level fours to not have poison immunity then it is for lower level units. Yes level 4's are the best, but they need weaknesses or even just lack of immunities sometimes.

Would you want to give angels another immunity, if fallen angels are to get poison immunity? Do you believe angels are so weak as to need another immunity? Especially one as powerful as poison immunity?

Also FA have death strike and immunity. HA's (holy angels) holy strike and immunity isn't as good IMO as cursed means 50% more damage done.

I mean to hear some of you, I'd think you'd rather give level 4's immunity to everything with all sorts of 1337 abilities

What about the compromise of giving them poison protection at silver and immunity at gold?

I think better to check what u are discussing before doing it dark angel have 7 def so lifesteal isnt powerfull on it, also it has animate corpse, while angel has resurrect, holy strike, holy immunity and healing so saying dark angel is already superior to angel isnt right

Stranger, I still do not see the ILB's for the Frost Giant and the Gypsy Dancer in the toolset. Is anyone else having this issue?

while angel has holy strike, holy immunity

And FA have death strike & immunity, which is better.

Angels should have to earn some things at gold, something should be moved to gold, resurrect/animate dead are two good candidates.

Kalindor,

you should be seeing the Frost Giant and Gypsy dancer. This may be a recolouring issue. Certain units don't recolour all the time, and I'm still trying to figure out why. Try running UGPM again, as I think it was closing prematurely last time because one of the units needed to recolour (the panther) wasn't present. I've sent it with all theta emails

Purple, on the Poison immunity, I agree with you. I don't see any reason at all to make a Dark Angel poison immune. She doesn't work with poison, she is not undead, or a foul orc. She is more like a Dark Elf, fallen from beauty and goodness. But only Dark Elves that get poison immunity are ones that have poison attacks. As it their tendency, Air and Dark Mystery tend to campaign on behalf of the evil races Also, both Angels have a nice upgrade at gold now.

Air, I'll think about removing the Pestilence, or making it a buyable unit rather than summonable. I think your points are valid...if people don't really enjoy using it, then why have it? However, I would like more feedback

regards,

bj

Alright, here goes about the pestilence!
Fighting a unit 2x times as well as the spawned parasite 2x times in each battle is not fun - especially, when you have to contend with effects like poisoned, cursed and physical weakness. Its the same thing I told you in-game too Stranger, in case you forgot.
While 120 cost might seem a lot for a lvl3, it is not. A lvl1 purger costs 70 mana! Looking at it from the defender's point of view also, it doesn't make sense that I spend 120 mana for a unit, which upon getting killed (twice!) is going help my enemy.

Its fun to use...but it needs to be tweaked or removed. Unfortunately, infected is not a round-based affliction like cursed which can be extended to a specified number of rounds alone. So, leave resurgence as it is and remove infected...that way, it won't die too easily and the bugged parasite popping won't happen too!

The Spells.ILB needs to be fixed to incorporate all these new names for summons. A newbie will be not be overly thrilled to summon a Chaos Lord for 120 mana and learn it is called Pestilence!

On the Angels' front, I think the Holy one is far stronger than the Dark one too. But Death has Corpus Furia....man, I never knew that spell could have such devastating effect as in that last game. That is the perfect death spell for big battles!

Holy strike is better then death if.. only one or two units have that strike with no wizard cast holy magic attack.. that way they can attack multiple units and cause them all to have status problems that reduce attack and defense by 2. Or as a magic attack if you dont have units with that kind of strike strike.

Otherwise with lots of units with the strike and magic attacks of the same type, death is better because it causes 50% more damage, and with death strike, having lots of units with it is no problem.

TP, I suggest playing the mod before you can offer comments on it.

In Dwiggs, holy strike is powerful due to the already low def of many units. In general, while def and res are, on average, lower in Dwiggs than in standard, def is lower than res. Vertigo is a killer!
And contrary to what you see in standard rules, its not expected to have many units with the same attack type of death or holy (unless playing Archons or Undead) and it is almost impossible to see more than two or three Angels (holy or dark) together unless it is a very long game with lots of players. Contrary to what people think, Dwiggs games do not last even as long as standard games with the same number of people so its important to play the mod and see what can be done before posting ideas/criticism (good or bad).
Just on a one-to-one comparison, Angel is much better with Resurrect and Healing compared to Animate Corpse and Life Stealing of the Dark one. A slight increase in damage or def would be ideal for the Dark one, IMO.

Though I must stress again, Death has corpus furia - a devastating spell when used correctly.

How is it that Pestilence can move through stone?

In Rise of Dwiggs1, there is a pestilence cloud that moves all over the underground, seemingly through solid stone (not even the dirt that can be tunnelled through).

Surely this is not right; if so, pestilence released into an enemy's area of underground becomes a very daunting weapon. Imagine conjuring up several at different points and loosing them...

The pestilence cloud (poison cloud) is different from the Pestilence unit.
The former is a preplaced object which can move around at will and the second is the summoned unit in the new Dwiggs version for the Death sphere.

poison immunity would be nice part of compensation for dark angel angel have def 8, 9 with bless, 10 with high prayer, 11 with medal so it can be like normal unit at the end and they can resurrect each other and save for future battles while dark angels 7 def can be risen only to 8 with medal and nothing more and animate can help to win big battle but not to save anything so death magic needs help

Maybe give the dark angel +1 def and fury at silver?
posted 03-13-06 02:45 PM EDT (US)     867 / 2994
I think giving the Dark Angel more damage is fair, since she is meaner and nastier than her light counterpart. Also, both angels get an appropriate bolt based attack at gold, but only three shots of it. The Light Angel will also get healing II, the Dark, Dark Gift.

I can't do anything about the pestilence cloud as far as I know, Kas, but I'll have another look at it in the editor.

Cheers,

bj

Quoted from Timelord:

But Death has Corpus Furia....man, I never knew that spell could have such devastating effect as in that last game. That is the perfect death spell for big battles!

really? i am not that impressed by that spell, its limited to 5-6 corpses per cast. it does not affect all corpses on the battlefield, and this makes it a crap spell in big battles.

i rather cast animate dead on dead mounted units to get 5-6 death knights, those i can move to to focus damage, instead getting random crap damage or dealing no damage at all cause of the randomness of corpus furia.

Heh, it first glance it looked like you were going to give holy angels dark gift and some ability called "the dark" Will these be at medal?

I suggest angels get blessed at (gold?) medal(what would be more appropriate for an angel?), I also suggest blessed gives +1 +1 and death immunity. Considering dark gift is partially redundent with the dark angels death strike, maybe they could get poison immunity at the same medal (gold I assume)

Yes this would mean at gold medal holy angels would have an advantage over fallen angels. But its not just about battles between angels but other units as well. Especially since you guys say people only end up making a handful of angels in a game, and only some games.

posted 03-13-06 05:07 PM EDT (US)     870 / 2994
dark angel should get poison immunity and more damage is a good idea too!

dark gift is not needed on the dark angel, cause she has allready death strike and i am not a fan of giving enchantments on units with medals, but first poison immunity and dark gift on gold is better than the current situation.
