Hey, I haven't been around in quite a while (time just flies when you're really busy)... I have been playing a bit of dwiggs here and there, still testing things out, don't think I've found anything that hasn't already been mentioned though! Can't wait to see the final product.

I have uploaded the mod and it should be available later today, latest by tomorrow morning!
The file will be called Dwiggs_1.4.zip and should roughly be around 145MB in size (245 unpacked). Please report any problems you find with the installation!
For folks interested in trying this online, you can come around 7-8 PM GMT to get a game today and over the weekend.

Stillborn, I have an absolutely pathetic upload speed (as an example: I was able to upload 4 MB in 30 mins for this mod before I decided to call it quits and wait till I get to office today) so even if I do post it as a torrent, the other seeders will also be affected due to my bandwidth (as I am the only one to have the complete file and other seeders can share only what they have leeched from me).
Cross your fingers and check today evening in the Downloads section.

BIG Congrats for the release!

More and more I look forward for Dwiggs games (I was a reluctant converted at first :-) )

I just downloaded and installed, but I'm wondering: 1. where the manual is; 2. Where can I change the ResStr.Mld file to get Dwiggs abilties, races names;3. Spell icons (since htm file that opened automatically after install mentioned new spell icons)

Oh well I'll play with Shoot Javelins for now ;D

The manual is called DM1.4.xls and should be present in your AOW:SM root folder. It is an adaptation of the file Dwiggs originally created! (and has a few errors that will be corrected soon)

The spell icons ILB file has not been included in this install. Will be done so along with the correction above.

To change the descriptions,
rename resstr.mld in Dict folder to something else.
rename resstr.mld.dwiggs to resstr.mld.
I wanted to write a simple batch script to do this but kept running into difficulties using the if exist condition in the batch file. Will try to do this along with the updates in the above two points.

I will be online every evening at around 5 pm GMT for the next 4 days (Sunday - Wednesday). If you come online, we can have a dwiggs game for sure (even if its 1 vs 1). We had such a game today (Merlin and me) and Merlin had a lvl16 hero!!!!
...and I promptly killed and resurrected him, of course

Hello,

Well anyway I found that out myself and had wondeful Flaming Arrows for my Chariots in an epic game againt AI last night (oh man Emperor AI on Dwiggs is nuts!!!!)

I think that renaming is ok enough for me, but maybe there could be an .exe file to automate that renaming operation for more regular players.

1. I was also wondering about the racial names when you make a custom map, in Advanced Custom Settings? Is it possible that it shows Fey Folk and Demons there instead of Syrons ans Shadow Demons?

2. And as I talked about it with Timelord on Game Spy today, I also told him that units in-game display old races names, such as "Glade Faun" , "Syron Good" which could be changed editing the ResStr.Mld file?

I converted .mld to .txt using Pawels mld_conv.exe program and took a look, and there are still Syrons and Shadow Demons there, guess that can be changed?

3. I found some errors, probably only typos. Elven Warrior Hero named Sythe should be be named Scythe, according to his own description, and Elven Priest Hero Verdian should be named Valerian, and also description has confusing gender references because it refers to his master, which is a female druid, so some 'he' and 'her' in some phrases feel misleading (at least for me when I read it); with that beard, I hope the hero is male ;D
(Interesting Hero concepts and descriptions btw. I liked Treasure, Archon (Female) Priest Hero description, who wrote the poem? And why not give her Bard's Skills at start, makes sense with description )

4. Timelord: Evil Resurrection action there ;-D
I wonder what is the intention on Heroes with Resurrect in Dwiggs? At least in BNW, Kirk Picardo, the Mod maker, said that it is supposed to use only on your own units that died.

(Wonders if he can get into credits hint hint)

5.(After Editing mesage): I also have a question: when I open Dwiggs1.4 in the Editor, on the Unit Body section, I get blue slots without any ILB, why is that?
Btw I am online, playing Lizards for first time, love at first sight! ;D What a cool race...

6. Why not make Boar Rider have a Boar death sound when dying, instead of a horse? I also noticed Titan looks small in tactical battle, I hope it were bigger

firstly, thank you for the comments. And now, a few answers:

I'll try changing the Res file...I noticed the continued presence of Syrons too

I'll fix the hero descriptions; Treasure was written by me.

There is only one hero who starts with resurrect, though there is also an item that grants the ability. I don't know how a unit could be limited to resurrecting only its own side's units, though.

The unit bodies are showing up blue because when creating the mod, I generated lots of bodies with the idea of including them in the final version. But, ultimately I decided not to use all of them, and so didn't send their graphics with the final version. Thus, they are empty in the editor

I'll work on the sounds for a boar rider, and the unit size for the other two.

Hey is anyone up for some 2on2s or 3on3 dwiggs? let me know, maybe even setup teams and have a tourney.

I wanted to play in the upcomming clan tournement, but its hard to go back to stock aowsm, not with dwiggs and the 1.4 patch out.

Is there a player market for a clan tournement for dwiggs?

Let me know if anyones interested, I have 5-6players on my side who are ready and willing to do 1-2 nights a week of league play.

none of us have ever played in any online tourneys, we just lan it so far, and we are all on the westcoast, If we can find another half dozen to a dozen dwiggs players we could have a great tournemnet.

Hi guys,

we had a really good day for Dwiggs today...in fact, we had to make two games because we had too many players for one. So, yes, I think there would be a market.

My problem is, I have 19 hours difference with west coast time....and most of my friends are Europeans, but I'll send out some emails to gauge the interest level.

I'm really pleased with how the mod is going, but there are a few issues (see above) that will need to be worked out in a patch before competitive play

I hope to see you both online soon,

Thats still do able, lets see, this friday around 10pm pst, that should be 5:00 your time right? can u play after work like that? or after dinner say 7? or 12am our time.

Stranger earth lev4 big beatle still called amazon queen also i m not sure it has good stats, ug concealment is very nice, but 6 res and 12 all other stats + 32 moves is very low compared to other lev4 summons. and no poison immunity on efreet seems to be mistake as well as no lightning immune on gargoyle. and 150 cost air elemental can get poison immunity too!

Had a nice game last night!

Mod is very interesting and it's fun to play with all the new units. Heroes, indeed, play a bigger role and I wish is was possible to put growth-building limitations in an unofficial patch as well. Lots and lots of super-interesting ideas!

Few comments:
- Lizards are great to play with, although I was a bit disappointed that the city just looked Draconian and not swampy. I imagined it to be green and it isn't hard to use some of the AoW1 graphics on them. Same goes for the demons, why not red?
- White horse hero has missing hit animation (this makes me think not all animations were checked).
- The Dragoncave entrace has blue blurr!
- Lots of summons miss a picture in the spellbook.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the descriptions (we played without any turntime limitation). Wonderful!

Swoltester, verily, the spell book icons are to be fixed.

Some animation sequences do not appropriate animations for certain actions, but I will check this one out. Which race did the hero belong to? Archons?

We just couldn't get to Lizards, but I would be happy to make 'em more swampy in a patch. Perhaps you could find someone to do the deed--i.e. recolour the city images?

I'll fix that dragon cave thing too

Well, well...all we now need is Tom and Jom to come back for a Dwiggs game and it'd be like the good ol' days!

Stranger, even Miraj lacks a hit animation. In our game yesterday, he tried to disappear when the magician was 'bolt'ing him...in vain, I should add.
...also, there is one hero who goes to the adjacent hex when hit! Forgot his name but if I come across that dude, will post his name too...seems like he is trying to flee but AOW mechanics force him to hit back.

...and no poison imm for Air Elemental. Its powerful as it is, Air! You use them in every game!

The cities are my work, as you might know I still haven't touched the lizard cities, since I didn't really had the time off to do so (I'm very slow at creating cities, and it's a rather time-taking process) What do you mean with: 'Same with the demons, why not red?' (to Swolte) I intend to have at least some early versions of the lizard cities up in 2 weeks.

To anyone who knows.. Where are the true tower images hidden? I tried to find them earlier with the ILB editor, but it seems to crash on certain ILB's, making the search a hard thing to do.

I have posted before on the dragon caves, but can't remember to get a response I can fix all of them in like half an hour, if you want? It looks like even the salamander prefers them...

PS: Do you also think we should fix the minor issues in AoW, like the walls getting pink when one breaks down in the corner? There are also more pink pixels left in the game.
I hope we can get some program that converts file names, so replacing the spellbook and such will be easier... Another solution is having double copy of AoW on your harddrive for dwiggs, but I can imagine not everyone has space for that.
