My list, from strongest to weakest, would be -
Strong
-------
1) Dwarves (the best race in the game in the long run - heavy hitters, leadership IV, fast transports, good siege machines, excellent flyer)
2) Dark Elves (IMO, best race to play, even for new players...they can give the Dwarves a run for their money when played right and with the right sphere)
3) Archons (overall good race, impeded only by high-cost units and race relations)
4) Humans (good units, lack of magical attacks only weakness)
5) Demons (again, good units but require special building or good heroes or a towerIII with item forge - magic relay item - for best results)
5) Undead (tied with Demons) - exceptionally good against some races (like Humans, Elves) but weak against other races like Archons, Demons (atleast in the early phases)
Average
--------
6) Elves (can't beat them in the early game and can easily expand via exploration, higher level units are good without being very much so. Ent still a question with respect to movepoints)
7) Tigrans (excellent units in their terrain. Even otherwise, a variety of options with beholder/mystic. Best lvl4, IMO, with drain will and dominate)
8) Goblins (strength lies in long game, susceptible to early rushes though good players can counter that. Best scrub army in the game)
9) Nomads (high lvl unit stats still represent pre-Dwiggs5 stats)
10) Orcs (good melee units but slow, low res on all units)
Weak
-----
11) Lizards (really good now - powerful melee units, early strong flyer) but ok in the long run
12) Frostlings (high lvl units like icedrake really need a boost. Speed and reduced transport are issues)
13) Fey Folk (weak lvl4, reliance on leprechaun - though I do like the new additions in the final version. The centaur marauder could use a boost or perhaps another unit)
14) Halflings (weak in offense, excellent in defense - atleast when WindWard is not present)
Now, no one plays one race exclusively, unless an anarchist. So, most of these races play well when combined together - otherwise, we would have seen a trend with any player picking a particular race winning (I still think its possible with the dwarves
)
