I'm trying to put together a mod (more info here.)

It's not going to change any of the default rules or races, but simply give more units and map objects to use when creating maps. I'm running out of ideas after creating 20 or so units, so now I need your help to give me new unit ideas. No units in this mod will be buildable in cities, so don't worry about balance, just let me know what kind of unit you'd like to see. Give me the units name and what it looks like. If you want you can post stats, description etc as well.

Give the Anarchist red hair, a la Johnny Rotten.

Do you have an independent Bard unit? One that runs around by himself/herself?

I've got a gun in my hand but that gun won't cock, my finger's on the trigger but that trigger seems locked and I can't stop staring at the tick-tock clock, and even if I could I would never give up. With a vest on my chest and a bullet in my lung, I can't believe I'm dying with my song unsung. So if and when I die won't you bury me alone, because I'll never get to heaven if I'm singing this song. STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO

Will others have to install your mod for maps made using this mod ??

Also double thanks for making a mod which has just independent units... definitely a welcome surprise for map makers.

Yes, it works like any other mod when it comes to that. The good thing is that the mod will be quite small (2-3 Mb), so even people with slow connections will find it easy to download. I'll try to make the installation procedure simple as well.

Hi Maggog,

I was a bit shocked as I saw your last posting "(2-3MB)".
Does this mean you didnt use any of my (and pawels') ripped units ??

I ask this, because I dont like (too many !!) recolored units, so if this is true, I wont d/l it.

posted 07-13-04 03:56 PM EDT (US)     69 / 98
I've decided not to use any ripped units because :

1. Most of them don't fit in with the rest of the units (imo). They look ok in mods where they replace the original units, but I don't think they fit into the mod I'm making.
2. I don't know where they come from (copyright).
3. They take up space.

I would avoid as many copyright issues as possible. If some other company has the intellectual property rights for a fantasy creature then its probably better to leave it with them.

There's plenty of greek, medieval and nordic mythology available to generate hundreds of units.

There can be only one.

so you aren't going to include lizardmen town either?

I don't think this is a serious copyright issue, because lizardmen were created by TS

No, but that's because I'm not going to change any of the standard rules. Sorry .
I might use some of your units though, if that's ok with you...?

No problem use any unit you want..

So what about the red-headed Anarchist?
Nice to know it'd be small MOD (even tho' I now have fast Internet access, downloading is still a pain in the neck). I like the re-coloured units, btw.

Anarchist is in the Dictionary... there shouldn't be any problem as long as a relation with the definition exists.

It can't be done unfortunately. The anarchists head is black, which means that all other black things (his cape) also would turn red.

As a red-headed anarchist,I'm very disappointed.

Here's another screenshot. I've made most of the TC objects available from the editor now and played around with them some... :

If you're still accepting new ideas, here's one.

Grall Gnome - Stats: Low attack, medium-high defense, medium HP, high Move Points.

Grall Gnome - Abilities: Poison Darts, Walking, Strike, Poison Strike, Poison Protection

Grall Gnome - Description: Grall Gnomes live in the deepest crystal caverns, polishing their shiny gemstone prizes. They are fiercely protective of their stones, and once they set eyes on a good gem, they acquire it any way they can, from killing to stealing. Their favored methods of doing so our with poisons, as it is quickest way. After testing the poisons on themselves, they are all quite resistant to many poison's effects. Once a jewel, crystal or gem becomes theirs, nothing can make it come from their greedy grip.

Grall Gnome - Appearance: Wrinkled, greenish-brown skinned, hunched and muddy-brown cloaked, Grall Gnomes look almost like pieces of the earth they live in. Their eyes dimly glow green, and their teeth are interlocking sharp fangs. They often grin evilly, for no reason, other than make any nearby ill-at-ease.

What do you think?

Hmmm... What current unit do you think, except for the colors, visually fits best to that description? Remember that big units can be made smaller...

Herbalist, perhaps? Maybe some kind of goblin, like a Darter.

Need help again. I made this unit some time ago, but I can't come up with a good name for him. He looks like this :

I call him überspawn for now, but need a better name i think... Suggestions are welcome.

Mod is coming along nicely btw. With some luck, it will be finished this month.

Name it Garbost(Giant crab monsters) or Charybdis...

Dunno why, just looks like a sea-based monster with that snake tail and crab pincers.

It reminds me some Zerg units from Starcraft... You could use a zerg name maybe. Very nice recolor Magog

Surprise surprise, the mod is (almost) finished! I have some unit descriptions left to do before I can release it, but if anyone wants to check it out, let me know on ICQ : 109832443 or MSN : dsk2293@hotmail.com.

The name of the mod is "100 units mod" (yes boring, but it stands out...). It's about 3.5 Mb in size, and requires about 150 Mb of free disk space to install.

That creature looks like a Krunndarc. A Krunndarc is just is just a random name I thought of, but that's what it looks like.

By the way, did you make that Grall Gnome unit I thought of? Just curious.

posted 08-15-04 01:59 PM EDT (US)     89 / 98
No, sorry, no Grall Gnome. There will probably be updates to the mod though, so it might be included later.

I have kinda been sitting on this one for a long time now (I kinda of think it is more of an AOW3 idea) but I have this idea for a very special unit.

It is called a 'familiar' (spelling?). Alternately, this unit could be called an 'apprentice'.

The whole point is for this unit to have the ability to boost your wizard's casting power. The apprentice could train to learn casting specialist and could possibly replace your wizard, too, if your wizard was killed and could not re-spawn for some reason(lacked a tower).

Maybe each hero could get a 'familiar' and each wizard could get an 'apprentice'.

I realize this may not be moddable because of other posts I have read concerning giving units cp as a skill.
