Good point, Calanor; and musketeers need some help as they are now, what with ballistas having superior firepower and lower upkeep. My idea to help musketeers would have been to allow them to strike as pikemen though (bayonets).
Mounted archers would really help the light and dark elves, whose riders weren't really designed for melee anyway, but that could lead to some really cheap tactics, especially against the short races.
Re: dwarven and orcish crossbowmen, I can handle that idea since dwarves and orcs have a little more melee power than average, and a bit less dexterity. Historically, crossbows were used by regular troops, rather than specialist archers, as less skill was required. They fired more slowly, and at less range, but were better for penetrating armor. I might give them a single shot at 5/3 versus an archer's two shots at 3/2.
Speaking of ranged devices, why did the flamethrower go from terrifying to pathetic somewhere around the second or third patch anyway?
