For every item you bring; an independent stack of the item's race will appear that'll youn you.

Make sure you don't bring the forged artifacts.

In other words, you shouldn't do that if you want to play life special and don't really need the help that much.

Hmm...I brought all the items and dropped them in rebuilt Trabian and nothing happened, no messages or anything. Should I leave them there and the effect you describe will happen at the end of the turn?

I believe your wizard needs to have the items in his possession. I too had my hero stack bring them with no results, brought my wizard along (with all 4 items) and poof up jumped 4 groups of creatures for my final assault on Necron

u need to have ur wizard with u..he doesnt have to have the items on he just needs to be there..but u keep the items too..its nota trade those idenpendents join u from each races artifact u have PLUS u get to keep the items its a great thing

I just ignored the quest, usually its not worth wasting time trying to find some god-forsaken city when you could be expanding your domain.

just played it, my ally kills necron soon after he lost an assault on my heavenly defended city(just 8 elven archers behind a wall), undeads are way to weak, really

What do you mean? "should not do it if you're going for the special". Why?

Because the artifacts can be brought to the next level, while the troops cannot... So, you benefit more from the artifacts for the third and final Life level than you'd benefit from the troops.

Me, I easily moved down Necron with my two Elf heroes, who where around 13 and 11 level, respectively. He had a Dread Reaper and some Bone Horrors which he stupidly sent after my heroes, leaving his town very undefended.
