Important Things to Remember
For your own enjoyment while using the editor, please observe the following cautions!
SAVE YOUR MAP REGULARLY.
This cannot be emphasized enough. Please save your maps every few minutes or
so. It is a habit that seems to take training for some. Stick reminder on
your monitor if you have to. It is really heartbreaking to lose hours of hard
work when the map crashes and you realise to your dismay that you have
forgotten to save the map.
MAKE SURE YOUR MESSAGE POP-UPS ARE SET
CORRECTLY.
I have observed that quite a lot of new map makers tend to forget to set the
pop-ups to pop up. :) The message pop ups will not work if they have not been
selected. And if you want a message to pop-up on the player's first turn, set
the message to pop-up on NEW TURN, not Instant.
WHO MADE THIS MAP?
Please put your ID name and title in the introduction of the scenario, so
that your players can trace your map back to where they have downloaded it
from. This helps especially if players have downloaded several maps on the
same day. Put your e-mail too if you like, I have found that some players
prefer to give private feedbacks rather than posting them.
EMPTY SIGNS
Put the 'signs' and fill them as you put them down on the map, so that you
will not miss out on them.
OTHER REMINDERS:
- Do not make a map with 3 levels and destroy the middle level. The map will become unrecoverably corrupted.
- Make sure teleporter destinations are valid, that they do not lead players to terrain which they cannot cross.
- Make sure AI paths are not unnecessarily blocked by watch towers.
- An Ice Hex under a Bridge hex makes the bridge uncrossable.
