| The Witch King War
2001-05-11 |
The County of Garovia and the surrounding lands have lived in relative
peace for several decades. Peace, but not harmony. Only a delicate balancing
of power keeps any one people from striving to control another. The Humans
of Garovia are allied with the Azracs of the Casbah of Khaibar. Their prime
concern is the alliance of the Undead of Denagoth with the bloodcrazed
Pyramid Goblins. Many skirmishes have been fought between these two alliances,
but no major wars. Elsewhere the Elves of Crystal Dream far to the north
and their Halfling friends far to the south keep a watchful eye on the
DarkElves and Orcs far below the surface. Again no major wars, only much
skirmishing. But now things have changed. A dreaded menace known only as
the Witch-King has returned from his exile in the Abyss. He has reclaimed
his hold on the Undead of Denagoth and reinforced his relations with many
other evil races. In one swift move one of his assassins has struck down
Count Von Drachenfell of Garovia. The old human County has fallen to pieces
in the aftermath. Only the humans from the nearby Barony of Middleton are
in any position to intervene. Word has it that Baron Von Cranown has marched
north with a small army to reclaim the lost County in the name of the human
King Tulfor of Clairaday. With a delicate balance of power broken all the
races scramble to assert their influence on the ensuing chaos. As the humans
regroup and the undead infiltrate, the other races begin to pursue their
own personal agendas.
