Louix IX and the humans for France are your default setting, but you could play the falling Ayyubid dynasty near the verge of collapse while the rising Marmeluks and peasant rebellion threatens to end the dynasty set by Salah-al-Din, or Saladin
The Templars have the holding of Acre, Mongols are invading in force, and the Assasains control the south eastern deserts
Nice attempt to keep the magic level down and make it like real crusades.
You should have keep human cities from being able to build the Air Galley.
Fun to see some history brought to life.

Seemed pretty accurate to me.
Not much more then the title.
Shadow Magic might be a better platform. More room for story control putting background on characters. I think you could have multiple human players as well.

I like the reduction of magic, but the high starting funds allowed me to purchase all of the neutral cities and armies located in Turkey. Also might want to consider turning leaders off, as the comps leaders were kind of easy to kill, and their armies became purchasable. It was a very geographically accurate map, and lots of fun.

I had to keep leaders on, historically the French forces get crushed at Mansurah, and then the Ayyubids fall to a peasant uprising within a year, so they have to kill that leader and then buy off the remains of his army.
Furthermore the Mongol invasion did not last long, and after the Khan died, his army eventually blended into eastern Muslim society. So it was a trade off to keep some of the main events able to occur, even thought the computer doesn't always want to comply.

Great fun! I love playing the Templar. Nice to just kill things for a change rather then magic them away.
The French and Templar are wee bit too powerful.
I love how you brought history to life!
