This TS136 map is designed as a multiplayer and PBEM map. It's small and compact, not too many cities, no user-accessible teleporters, few pop-up messages, and best played with leaders OFF. You can play as Highmen, Elves, Dark Elves or Undead, and the Frostlings should make life a little harder for all of you! That way you can play 2 vs 2, or a free-for-all, the choice is yours. Be careful near ponds - they may contain lurking enemies! Here's the story:

Sir Crashalot sat high in the tower of his castle, flicking peanuts out of the window with a desultory grimace, and listening to them pinging off the metal helmet of the guard down below. Sir Crashalot was feeling glum. There had been a freak accident. One of his men had been trying out a new musket, and had accidentally shot down a wyvern rider. The long snout of the wyvern had gone straight through Sir Crashalot's sushi-maker, Wei Too Go, killing him outright. Crash was very partial to sushi, and the replacement sushi-maker just couldn't get to grips with the subtleties of wasabe. Sometimes he felt like giving up being an emperor and doing something simpler, like wrestling alligators, or being a postman

Meanwhile, in another part of the shire, Unicorn was also feeling somewhat depressed. Freeserve was unreliable, the local brewery had run out of 1664, and his teenage son kept rattling the foundations of the castle with his loud music. It was hard to concentrate on planning conquering the universe with all these distractions

At some long-forgotten time in the past the shire had been deluged with an enormous cascade of mud, roaring down from the slopes of the Murky Mountains with a deafening roar, and blocking all the paths through and around the mountains. It had changed the topography of the shire forever, but life had eventually returned to some sort of normality. In fact it had stopped the annoying raids by Goblins and Trolls that had been making the Keepers' lives a misery, so from that point of view it was beneficial, but of course that would never make up for the many lives that had been lost during the disaster. People felt safe now - but that might be a costly mistake...

Many thanks to Unicorn for his tireless help with playtesting, and to Tekk Zero for his mapmaking gizmo, which allows me to make heroes more interesting. Another map by Roger the Rampant, all constructive comments welcome:

A little unbalanced in starting towns, but generally quite good.
