This TS136 map has 3 playable races: Highmen, Undead or Frostlings. There are also the AI-controlled Azracs, who are initially at war with the other three races, and will (hopefully) make life difficult for all of you throughout the game. Lairs and dungeons are generally well-defended, so be careful with your leader, particularly in the early stages of the game when leader stats are still low. Although my maps are generally designed for MP internet games and PBEM, it can also be played as a single-player map, and there should be plenty of little surprises to keep you entertained in single-player too. Lovers of Les Miserables may also find a few familiar things in this map. Have fun!
STORY:
In Bywungetwunfree the Humans had been virtually eradicated. During their stay in the region they had exploited many natural resources, and in particular there was a place that the humans had called "The Promised Land". This small island in the middle of the shire was packed with gold mines, farms, various mana sources and some ancient castles. The Frostlings had a new and ambitious leader, Futuriswhite, who was determined to sweep down from the North, spreading frost and ice across the whole shire, and bringing the whole region under frostling control. In particular she claimed that the water and wind nodes of the Promised Land were of great historical importance to her people. She knew that her trusted lieutenant Cynon had been captured and imprisoned somewhere in the shire, but she knew not where
Then there started to be increasing instances of disturbances in cemeteries, strange black creatures moving around in the dark, and eventually it became clear that the Undead were becoming a major force in the region. The rumour was that they too had a new and ambitious leader, Futurisblack. She obviously wanted the large mana income from the death node on the Promised Land, and was quite happy to take it by force if necessary. The East of the region quickly became blackened and charred, as the Undead systematically removed the Humans with a scorch and burn policy. Humans were terrified of the Undead, and effectively ran onto the swords of the Frostlings in their efforts to escape the Undead
As the Undead careered headlong towards the Frostlings the Keepers decided to intervene, thereby sending the shire irreversibly towards armageddon. An experienced Highman warrior appeared in the West, named Futurisgreen, determined to make the whole shire green and healthy. The Azracs had virtually been eradicated too by the Undead, having only a small area of desert left on the surface, and a few underground cities. As the Highmen appeared to counter the Undead, and slowed down the relentless blackening of the shire, the Azracs started to make a bit of a comeback under the watchful eyes of their wise old warlord, Watchyerback.
Seeing their progress slowing dramatically before they had reached the Promised Land, the Undead started using all the tricks at their disposal. Various mountains started spouting poisonous gases, blinding stinging clouds of ash became common, and poisonous gases regularly blew across the shire. The only place of peace and tranquility in the whole region was the Black Forest Chateau. There were troubled times ahead.....
