Paladins Quest

Author File Description
CryHavok
File Details
Ruleset: TS Standard Rules
Map Size: Small
Playable Races: One
Surface Levels: 3
Difficulty: Normal
This is a role-playing map with alot of text and quite a few optional quests with their own rewards. There are tons of text bubbles that develop the story.

You play a Paladin of the Holy Brotherhood of the Sun who returns to his home city to find it has been destroyed. The Paladin embarks on a quest of retribution that quickly becomes something much more.

This is an early creation, but it played just fine when I tested it myself. Of course, I know where everything is and all that... :) So any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Starts out fine, before the spawn-feast begins. It's not amusing to have black dragons spawn right beside your cities. What's the point of that? Why do mapmakers love playing around with teleporters?

Story is a 5.

Map could have been more detailed.

But it's playable alright...

This is one of the most fun quests I have played so far. The reason I'm only giving a three in playability, is that I had to try the map six times before the elves would survive round number six or seven. My guess is, the elven leader went straight for the power nodes and died fighting the golden dragons. Also, I thought it was a bit too easy near the end, but I think that's inevitable. With a single leader fighting all the battles, he becomes a god in a matter of hours. Still, very funny and very creative.

What can I say? First Player made map fro me, and I really loved it.

It was really fun to play, bottom line.

It was kinda hard to keep up with, with everything attacking at once, but besides that, it was fun.

The storyline idea wasn't tht creative. I'm sure it's been done in several Fantasy books, however, it was just done so unbelievably well, I can't really complain about that.

Overall, I'd suggest this game to anyone wanting a well done dark storyline with their strategy.

Playability: 4
Not bad. Probably not something I'd play over, as it's kind of spoiled once you know what's coming.

Balance: 3
The emphasis of the map is buffing up your leader and using him almost exclusively to wipe out baddies. There are lots of lvl-4 units scattered around that you have to fight.

I haven't seen anything like, but I'm not too well traveled, so to speak. I thought it was a neat idea with components that were new to me.

Map Design: 4
A pretty well constructed map for the most part. There were a couple bugs. At least one speech bubble got lost because I was attacked at the same moment I triggered it, so I missed that part of the story. Trying to cross the water in a boat is pointless with that many sea monsters. Why even bother putting a shipyard there at all if you want to force people underground? Only one group of black dragon/undead teleported in on me to raid. The rest never left their staging area underground. I'm not sure why. An item that granted me Markmanship IV didn't convey when I'd actually use my Archery skill. I saw Mark IV in my ability list, but when I selected Archery, it still said Attack 4, Damage 2. This made killing dragons VERY difficult. I had to use a lot of run and gun tactics in TC, which was tedious.

Story/Instructions: 5
Great story!

Additional Comments:
I completely bypassed the dwarves and the Destroyer my first time through. I didn't even see the cave opening, so blew by it and beat the scenario anyway. Only 3 Life Spheres made healing difficult. A Water sphere would have been nice for Healing Water. But, I guess it forced me to bulk up on hit points, so maybe that was the point.
