You can play any race you want, as long as it's Highmen. I've rated this map Hard -even though I know what's going on it took me about 200 days to beat it. I also rate it Mature... the map explores some dark themes, and there is some coarse (by some standards) language in the Spoilers file.
Well, this was a tough map if I ever saw one. I finished it in little over 100 turns, though officially I haven't won yet. I've defeated my main adversaries, but the Elves and Halflings are fighting amongst themselves, so it doesn't count as an allied victory yet. I'm sure I can decimate either the Elves or Halflings in a few turns though.
The map is huge. Not so much topside, but very much so underground. It takes a lot of patience to work through those levels, but once you get to the heart of Undead territory, it becomes worth it. The most evil miniquest ever, a journey that will force you to face 6x8=48 high level enemies at once. That battle took me hours, even though I 'only' lost seven units in a group of eight to win that one. Those seven were fine heroes with powerful artifacts, but they were not good enough. Number eight was my leader, who gained five levels after the battle.
Somehow, the AI screwed up though. It sent hordes of undead demons and heroes into the wrong teleporter. That teleporter was almost worse than the hell of the miniquest, but at least I could attack them a group at a time.
Try this one, its worth the effort.

Great map! It would be even better if the opposing forces were a little more aggressive. Thanks.
