Napoleonic Wars, version 1.0
----------------------------
Wars of French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte, which trembled the old European order
to a new one and remains in history as one of the most glorious eras of warfare throughout European history.
Some information and notes:
(1) The map is designed to be played as multiplayer PBEM game.
(2) The map should be played with leaders off to give most realistic atmosphere.
(3) Each nation has their own specific victory conditions described roughly in objectives.
(4) The map is intented to be played with allied victory off, but it is not a must.
(5) The map is unfortunately password protected until(/if) a "later" version is released.
(6) The map is dedicated for the map competition of 2007, launched by sir Enginerd.
(7) Every nation can achieve victory by gaining superiority over the surrounding reigns or conquering capitals of the major powers. Beware that others don't achieve victory before you and use diplomacy and warfare to achieve yours.

I love the concept for this map, and the geography is very well done. I will definately play it from the point of view of multiple factions. I have a few suggested tweaks to make the game go smoother.
I played as Britain/Humans
Consider switching the Portuguese from Dwarves to Humans or Highmen, because they rebel from British control if Spain declares war on you.
The water walking ring that Nelson carries does not work.
Replace the pestilence tower in Russia with an alter of frost.
I cannot find any hints as to each countries objectives anywhere. As Britain I've wiped out France/elves, Italy/highmen, Denmark/dark elves, Sweden/frostlings, Austria-Hungary/goblins, Prussia/Orcs, and the Confederacy of the Rhine?(I think)/Undead. All that remain are Russia/halflings, Poland/Lizardmen, and the Ottoman Empire/Azracs and I still havn't achieved victory.
Is it possible to make losing the last city a condition for defeat? It is difficult to track down those last enemy boats.
Underground areas seem largely superfluous, but could be expanded.
The Syrons in Switzerland seemed excessively difficult, the lack of available mana means that the altar of lighting could only be used very sparingly anyhow.
Upon further research, Poland was a member of the Confederacy of the Rhine, so the Undead could be given those territories and the Lizards could be moved to possibly Portugal or Sicily.
Great map, I'm looking forward to later versions.[Edited on 09/12/07 @ 12:43 AM]

ThePreachr: I have to tell the results of your research are wrong, Duchy of Warsaw has never been a member of Confederacy of Rhine which, as its name suggests, consisted of German states only. I suppose you were confused by the fact the Duke of Warsaw was Fredeick August Wettin, who was also the king of Saxony (which did belong to Confederation) ;) |

I do have one or two changes to help you;
In Ireland, you can rename the northern town from 'Ulster' to Derry, Londonderry or Coleraine.
Ulster is the province as whole, similar to Leinster, Connaught and Munster.
If you move the town to the east a bit, it becomes Belfast.
In Britain proper, there are two things. 1 is Wales, a good town for that is Cardiff. And was Glasgow removed for balance reasons in Scotland?[Edited on 07/04/08 @ 02:09 PM]
