Looking for a couple more players to join Naeco and me on a four player map focused on battle. Not looking for epic multi-year games or RPG style maps with tons of events, just build up armies and kick the crap out of each other till only one remains. Upatch 1.4 and standard rules.
No definite map decided yet but I've proposed either Key of Kharzul, Centraleon UP 1.4 or Prison Break. Open to suggestions as long as they are relatively quick (no Groll like maps), not too many events, and fairly balanced.

Count me in.
I haven't played in a while, but it's time to get back in shape before AoW3 is released...

Hey, if you need one more (seems not) count me in. If not I am up for any other fast game.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for responding. Sorry we have a bit too many. Wasn't sure anyone was interested, and then pow, we actually have more players than we need. Sorry Kret, I was actually going to contact you, under Albinscott's recommendation, but before I knew it, the roster was full. Perhaps some of the others don't mind starting two maps? Personally I can only handle one at a time right now. Hope we can have a game some other time. I hear you like maps where war breaks out fast, rather than long RPG type maps, which is also what I like.
As for the rest of you, Naeco, Hatifnat and Rhomkar, does anyone have a good four player recommendation? Aside from the ones I mentioned previously, I also thought about Rise of Kings UP 1.4 with us against indie wizards. Played it once before about halfway through (before Naeco basically crushed me), but up for playing as a different wiz.
Other than that, I think I'd most be interested in Prison Break, which like a lot of Rheno maps looks awesome (and has me as a hero in it, which I have yet to get, or even SEE in any of his maps I've played. Never played it before, but it seems like a little while ago everyone was playing it. Love to give it a try now.

OK, Naeco won't be available till Feb 5, but at least we can decide on a map. I'm going to propose Rise of Kings UP 1.4, playing with 4 AI wizards. We can have random placing or try to balance it, such as only picking surface or underground wizards, or having two of each diagonal from each other.
Its a good map, lots of room to grow but not too big, and not too cluttered with strong defenders to slow down expansion, and no events. So it should start off a bit slower than the last couple maps I played, but once we've all expanded sufficiently the wars will start. With such a big, open map, there's lots of room to chase each other around and give plenty of strategic options.
All in favour?

I always set the AI to emperor, and am almost always disappointed in just how poorly they play. The AI wizards will most likely be easy targets for human players to absorb and use the extra resources to crush the real enemy: other human players.
By random placing I actually meant just letting people pick whichever wiz they wanted. My only hesitation with that is that we could end up with three wizards beside each other, fighting each other more quickly, while the other guy is basically free to expand and pick off the survivors. But its all speculation until we know what people's picks are. I think I'd like either Nomads or Darkelves.

OK, I get it now... In this case I am ok with balancing the wizards' starting location. I have no preference regarding the race, so it'd be easier pick symetric capitals.

Yo, Naeco and Rhomkar,
Any thoughts on using Rise of Kings UP 1.4 and setting up geographically balanced wizards? If you're fine with that, what wizards, if any, would you prefer?

I'm fine with both maps. If possible, I'd like to play either archons or undead (preferably archons, but undead are fine as well).

Ok, I took a second look at Ye of Little Faith. I guess my hesitation stemmed from the limits on the cities, most of which seem to be set to outpost. Personally I prefer a bit more variety in towns. Aside from some ruins and the main elven town in the centre, there is only one other town that can go beyond outpost. That could be a slight balance issue, as the town is closer to one of the players than the others, but I don't think its a major issue.
I'm up for it, it will certainly make higher level units precious. I'd go for undead myself, if noone objects. I could put Rhomkar as Archons, leaving Draconians and Shadow Demons for Naeco and Hatifnat.
Nyar, if you're still listening, could you set it up when we're ready?

I'm fine with blind as well, though I have looked at the map in the editor before when I was initially considering maps, and again quickly just the other day. I have a vague idea of the map but that's about all. Mostly I just remember its 99% outposts and has a lot of islands. Never looked at the events.
Do either of you have a preference for either of the remaining races, draconians or shadow demons? And does anyone want to set it up? I can if noone else wants to.

OK, that leaves the dracos for Naeco. I will set it up and send it out as soon as I can.

I'm thinking I don't have an up to date password for Hatifnat. Could you post it or send it to me at jamieedeATgmailDOTcom? I'll just set it up again with the right email addresses.
